Year 7 and 8 pupils recently had an inspiring and delicious experience as they stepped aboard the unique double-decker bus brought to our school by the 'I Can & I Am' charity. The visit was designed to foster self-belief and practical life skills, with a particular emphasis on a fun, hands-on pizza-making and baking activity.
A Taste of Teamwork: Pizza Making Below Deck
The lower deck of the bus transformed into a fully equipped kitchen, buzzing with excitement as pupils collaborated to create their own pizzas from scratch. This immersive culinary experience saw students actively participating in every stage of food preparation, from spreading the sauce to adding their favourite toppings. The aroma of baking pizzas filled the air, creating a truly engaging atmosphere. The hands on nature of this activity not only taught valuable cooking skills but also significantly boosted their teamwork and communication abilities. Here, pupils engaged in an insightful workshop led by the 'I Can & I Am' team. Using the powerful 'balloon' metaphor, the session encouraged students to explore the concepts of self-belief and resilience. They learned how to
identify and overcome challenges, understanding that like a balloon, their potential can expand with the right mindset and support.
