KS4 options at St. Luke’s
At St. Luke’s we know how important it is to achieve qualifications that will enable students to move onto a College course that they are going to not only achieve in but to enjoy as well! Therefore, this academic year a wider range of qualifications have been made available with each student required to take 3 option choices to enable them to gain the 5 qualifications (including Maths and English) that Colleges and future employers expect.
The range of qualifications available are:
- GCSE Art
- Woodland Management
With each option having 3 lessons per week students are not only able to pass the qualification but also to build skills that could be required for a future job.
This was never more evident than during this week when an Year 10 student was able to fix the school’s Go-Kart.
Using his own initiative, MacKenzie was able to identify a solution to a broken track rod by using a piece from a former Go-Kart. Then upon finding that it was not the right size he was able to use tools in the DT room to cut the rod down to size, rethread the bolts and then fix it onto the now new and improved Go-Kart.
Through his hard work and perseverance, he was able to overcome a problem which resulted in the school being able to use the Go-Kart again, which he also loved having a go on!!
Thank you MacKenzie - well done and was great to hear how please you were with yourself and your achievement!
