Good News Story Term 2 Week 1-2

Opportunities and aspirations can hold the key to future success for any young person.

That is why at St. Luke's Academy we are aiming to increase both of these for our students to ensure that they are able to meet the schools vision that every student to be prepared for a successful adult life and equipped with the skills to contribute positively to society. This week as part of our continued careers drive we welcomed (virtually via TEAMs!) Tina from Careers Collective (www.careerscollective.org) who delivered 2 x 30 minute workshops to Yr11 & 10 students. The workshops were titled "What are employers looking for?" and showcased the knowledge, tools and techniques for young people to improve their decision making and choose how to engage with the world, whether that involves, for example, taking on a part-time volunteering role, paid work or developing independent living skills. With lots of interaction, discussion points and an interactive quiz students left feeling ready to take on the world!
This careers event was part of the schools careers programme and followed last month's Military School Academy session with the British Army. The aim of these events are to increase our students knowledge of different careers, what will be expected of them out in the work place and to raise aspirations and their educational ambitions.
